Looking for Canadian Embassy in Seoul or Busan? Well look below for a map and directions to the Canadian Embassy in Seoul business hours:
Open Monday – Friday: from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (Must be nice, eh?)
Other times by appointment
The Canadian Embassy in Seoul can notarize documents (criminal background checks for your E2 Visa and Korean immigration will accept those) and I even used the Canadian Consulate in Busan a long time ago to renew my passport (that wasn’t cheap!) More info: Passport Canada list of passport services in every country for Canadians
The Canadian Embassy and Consulate in South Korea can also provide information about local laws, regulations, cultural customs and other services, but because of the cost and usually the ability to find a local provider or a cheaper, faster solution through Korea Insider or other source I think the only time you may need them is to notarize documents and renew your passport.
A little tip is to make sure to get a guarantor to verify your picture. I had a friend of mine who is a lawyer in Korea simply sign the back of my passport-sized photos and be able to be reached by the passport office or Canadian Embassy if needed. This saves you 50,000 won so it’s definitely worth the effort. If you go to a notary public 공증인 in Korea they will charge your from 15,000 to 35,000 won so hopefully you can get a friendly doctor, dentist or someone at your bank to sign it for you.
Although, I haven’t made the leap yet, a friend of mine did have me sign his paperwork so that he could marry his Korean girlfriend. That seemed like the usually bureaucratic routine of filling out several different forms in triplicate, visiting the local district (Gu Cheong) office and then back the Canadian Embassy to relieve yourself of at least 100,000 won (cash only – nice touch). This doesn’t give your Korean wife or husband Canadian citizenship, but after a few more forms and more cash you’ll be on your way to getting your Korean wife or husband Canadian citizenship.
How to get to the Embassy by subway, take the Dark Blue Line (Line No. 1), Green Line (Line No. 2) or Purple Line (Line No. 5).
