Using the Seoul Subway is really quite easy and even the ramyeon noodle looking subway map will soon be a breeze to navigate. Just get that T-Money card by saying the little phrase on the yellow card and read our Seoul subway how to.
Now you have your T-Money card and it’s time to ride the subway. First you’ll want to see which direction you want to go as there are two choices unless you are at a transfer station. Well, just find your destination either on the left or right subway sign and you’ll know which subway platform you want or you can see on the subway map by the ticket booth which major stop (usually also a transfer station) is in the same direction as your stop and then head in that direction.
The sign below is going toward Jamsil, but COEX is also in this direction if you are leaving from Gangnam station
Here is the new sliding doors that you’ll see at some subway stops in Korea

A video of those cool sliding doors, although a nice safety measure for the metros in Korea I can’t help thinking about the other reason they are there when I see them sometimes.
This one is at GyoDae Yuk 교대역 or Seoul National University of Education on line 3 and 2. Yes, it’s a transfer station. Some other fun videos on how to use the Seoul subway and other fun, interesting random ones too.
And Seoul station and the older subway platform which may at this time have the extra set of sliding doors.
The nice part is that you’ll hear both Korean and English announcing the subway stops so you shouldn’t miss it (famous last words) and the transfer stops alert you by playing music or a kind of bird singing or some kind of classical music.
Some of the more modern subway cars will have the stops lit up so it’s easy to see where you are and what stop is next. Of course you can always take a look at the subway line map or the full subway map. These subway maps are usually on opposite sides above the subway doors.

Take that T-Money card, go through the turnstile and head to the proper platform.

Have fun exploring Seoul!
