Korea Trends in 2010 start with the marketing of brand South Korea and it is needed as a lot of folks still don’t know much about this Asian powerhouse that has gone from “aid receiver” to “aid donor.” This will be done through the Presidential Council on Nation Branding. Hopefully for lovers of Korean food we can see the gov’t and private sectors start up some push of Korean food around the world too not just Girls’ Generation and Wonder Girls and Rain.
Another trend which is nothing new, but somewhat new stance from the current administration’s stance on North Korea. This could be a chance to prepare for volatile time ahead as the succession from crazy dad to son takes place in 2012.
Something that we saw coming, but not sure have made any preparations for is the accelerated retirement of Baby Boom generation. 1.33 million people will reach the retirement age of 55 between 2010 to 2018. This could lead to a drop in the tax revenue and maybe the easiest solution will be to raise the bar of retirement to how people are slaved out for longer in North America by working till 65.
