It is shocking but back in 2000 when I arrived at my hagwon the teachers (mainly male) there all had some kind of bamboo stick with them to “motivate” their students to study and quit goofing around. Most didn’t use it, but there were always some sick bastards that likely took some pleasure in hitting girls and boys. There are some kids who act up and get out of line all over the world, but a teacher or any adult physically abusing a kid is never justifiable. Sure, a mom giving you a little slap on the butt when you are giving her a hard time about staying up late is likely just fine, but this sort of sick stuff is just wrong and that teacher needs to get his head bashed around. The good thing is that now with these kinds of youtube like sites and cell phones, most teachers are extra mindful of loosing their temper in case they are the next disgraced teacher on the net.
