Speaking of Korean cell phones, how cool are they.  When I got my first Korean cell phone (I've had quite a few Korean phones since) I was super impressed just because it could take a picture. That was quite some time ago of course. Now MP3 and DMB phones are pretty common. Well this page isn't about those cool Korean hand phones, but if you want to see CFs on Korean phones then watch some Korean cell phone / hand phone commercials. This page is about calling Korea and area codes in Korea.

How do you call Korea? It is pretty easy to call Korea from Canada, USA, England or any country for that matter.  Let's say you are in the USA and you want to call your friend who lives in Seoul at their apartment landline and the phone number in Korea is 02-579-1234. First you need to know how to dial outside of your country using the international country access number. 

Knowing that you would dial 011 (USA) + 82 (Korea country code) + 2 (Seoul) and 579-1234.

If your friend wanted to call you back at 415 333 7890 in San Franciso they might use 00321 as I have found that one to be cheaper than 001.

Your friend would call 00321 + 1 (USA country code) 415 (San Francisco area code) and 333 7890.

When you are in Korea and you want to call from your cell phone or landline in Seoul to Busan you will have to dial the area code for Pusan 51, but make sure you add 0. So you would dial 051 + the number.

If you are calling a cell phone in Korea then just dial the number as is, but make sure you have the right first 3 numbers. 

If you are calling a cell phone 010-1234-5678 (all 010 numbers have 8 digits after it) in Korea from abroad, let's say England you would dial:

00 + 82 (South Korea country code) + 10 (drop the first zero) + 1234-5678.
